On the hunt for a new sofa, but having trouble finding the perfect one? Last week we talked about picking the right sofa for your lifestyle but what if you can't find the "perfect" one?  Every sofa you see has elements you like, but also aspects you don’t. You wish you could combine the fabric from one, the cushiness of another and the look of yet another. Kind of like designing your own sofa. Well, that’s why we offer custom upholstery and sofa design at Kleur Design. We can help you pick those aspects you like and put them together for a sofa as unique as your style. And it’s easy — just five steps!

Step 1: Pick your line

We have two custom sofa lines: Lee Industries and Van Gogh Designs. Based in North Carolina, Lee Industries offers a great variety of styles and options, like leather and recliners. BC-based (yay, Canada!) Van Gogh Designs has a great selection of trend forward styles and are a great choice if you want a customized piece without the "custom" price tag ;)

Both lines are “bench” made in North American, which means they’re made by skilled craftsmen from beginning to end. It’s similar to the hand-crafted concept, and you can be guaranteed high quality from both lines.

Step 2: Pick your style

Do you prefer clean lines and a modern style, or do you prefer a more classic look and accents? You’ll be able to flip through our catalogue of available styles and models so you can find the “look” that matches your space.

Step 3: Customize your piece

Here is the step where you can work with your sales rep here at Kleur Design to create the sofa you've been dreaming of! Take the arm style from one sofa and the legs of another sofa and then customize the size to suite your space...and voila! a piece that is all yours!

Step 4: Select your fabric

This is the fun part, for me at least! We have a whole section here in our store of fabric options for you to touch and sample. You might even fall in love with a pattern or bold colour. In fact, this is the perfect time to use our secret formula for layering patterns.

Step 5: Place your order

Now for the final step: Pricing and ordering! Our staff will run all your selections through our very sophisticated pricing program (aka our calculator) and provide you with a price. At this stage, you can modify your options to find the price that best fits your budget. When you’re happy with your choice (and price), we place the order.

Most custom orders take roughly 10 to 12 weeks to produce and ship, so I guess, technically, the last step is to wait for your delivery.
